President Trump has once again renewed his calls for the U.S. to impose the death penalty on drug dealers.
The president praised countries like the Philippines, China, and Singapore that apply capital punishment to drug traffickers. During a speech last week, Trump spoke about conversations he had with Chinese and Singaporean leaders who solved their countries’ drug problems by executing drug traffickers. Trump has also repeatedly expressed admiration for Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte and said he’s done an “unbelievable job on the drug problem.” A drug problem that’s pretty much not existent now. Even though Last month, the International Criminal Court opened an investigation into accusations that Duterte had committed crimes against humanity by overseeing the killing of up to 8,000 people in his war on drugs.
Read below how the liberal publication The Root is reporting on this:
‘The White House is proving that when it comes to drugs destroying white communities, there are no limits to what it is willing to do to stop the threat, including death: to the dealers, not the users.
Because the White House is completely invested in solving the opioid epidemic, which disproportionately affects white people, it is willing to kill the people who sell them drugs.
According to Politico, Donald Trump is set to unveil a new plan that would call for the death penalty as an option when drug dealing and trafficking are “directly responsible for death” in cases involving opioids.
The plan, which is still being finalized, could be released early next week. But Trump has been gushing privately for weeks about using the death penalty in drug cases in which the user dies. Because Trump can’t stop campaigning, he’s even praised countries that execute drug lords, The Hill reports:
“If you go to Singapore, I said, ‘Mr. President, what happens with your drugs?’ ‘We don’t have a problem. We have a zero tolerance. We have a different type of people,’” Trump said in discussing Singapore’s policies, according to The Hill.
“They don’t play games,” he continued. “I said, ‘How are you doing on drugs?’ ‘No problem.’ I said, ‘What do you mean no problem?’ ‘We have a zero tolerance policy.’ ‘What does that mean?’ ‘That means if we catch a drug dealer, death penalty.’”
Politico notes that Trump’s plan is expected to include recommendations from his opioid commission and is a mixture of increased law enforcement measures and increased prevention and treatment, among other efforts.
Because the opioid addiction largely affects swaths of white communities, this divisive and openly racist-ass administration declared it an epidemic and a national public health emergency in October, which it last extended in January.
Sounds like the Trump administration plans to criminalize those who sell the drug while working on treatment plans for those who use the drug. We won’t know this for sure until the plan is released, but I assure you that there is nothing racist to see here. Nope, not one thing.”
Leaving aside the fact that drugs kill people and ruin families forever. In all fairness, the above article is from a website that caters to ultra left-wing views and writes articles mainly with an African American slant which usually is very racist in nature against those who aren’t black.
The writer in this particular piece goes on to say it’s actually racist to sentence drug dealers to death row. How so? Is he trying to tell his audience that most drug dealers are African Americans? Maybe to this writer, they are, but that’s far from the truth, only the media, movies and TV shows are the ones who depict most drug dealers to be black. Although most drug dealers who are arrested are black, latest statistics show most drug dealers are in fact white. With most of them being higher level pushers and distributors rather than the ones who just go and hand over the product to the buyer. President Trump has his sights set on the top sellers, not the one who stands at the corner handing drugs to his clients.
Having the threat of facing death would surely make drug dealers think twice before choosing this as their career, and it would go a long way towards ending the opioid epidemic this nation is facing.
Here is more on the racial break up of drug use via November.org:
“Although blacks and Hispanics tend to try drugs for the first time at a slightly younger age than whites, by the end of high school, whites have caught up and surpassed them in every drug category. White seniors are a third more likely to have smoked pot in the past year, seven times more likely to have used cocaine, three times more likely to have used heroin, and nine times more likely to have used LSD. And it’s not just that there are more white users, as this would reflect mere population percentages, but rather, that the white rate of use is that much higher than the rate for blacks.
It’s the same story for young adults. Whites are 66% of 18-25 year olds, but 70% of drug users that age. Blacks are 13.5% of persons in that age cohort, but only 13% of young adult users, while Hispanics are nearly 15% of that age group, but only 12% of drug users 18-25.
When it comes to drug dealing, the picture changes only slightly. According to the Justice Department, drug users tend to buy from same-race dealers. So the nearly three-quarters of users who are white, mainly rely on white dope peddlers, not the Jamaicans or Dominicans of popular imagery. When it comes to drugs like ecstasy-a hot product for the Virginia cartel-the dealers and users have long been known to be mostly white, middle class males between 14 and 32.’
